Today, we drove.

And drove, and drove. And then....we drove some more.  We passed over a town called Neversink.  We drove over a big reservoir with a sign on the bridge that said, "Location of Old Neversink".  It turns out that Old Neversink is actually underwater!  In WWII, the area surrounding the town figured out that with the rate of the population growth, they'd need a larger water supply.  Geographically, there was nowhere to put a reservoir so they decided to declare the town condemned and flooded it.  So no more town, but hey, plenty of water!

So, it's 9:55pm and we're leaving Starbucks in Poughkeepsie, NY heading in the Rhode Island direction.  We're planning on making a stop in Newport, thanks to Randy Hess's suggestion. Maybe we'll drive the rest of the way there tonight?

Maybe we'll need more caffeine first.
