No Room at the Inn

Oh Connecticut, Connecticut, how we will (not) miss thee.  We drove for a long time last night after skyping with  my parents. We were heading to RI but wanted to stop in Hartford, CT first.  After watching Gilmore Girls for seven seasons, how could I not see the state it all took place, right?? (Josh didn't exactly agree on  my reasoning but he loves me, so...). We also found a huge science center in Hartford that we were really interested in seeing (kinda like a REALLY big Whitaker Center in Harrisburg).  So we drove and drove (and drove and drove) and made it into Hartford around 1:30am this morning and started looking for a hotel. (By the way, CT didn't have one of those "Welcome to Connecticut! We're glad to see you!" signs. And on the way out, there was no "Come back and see us soon" either. Dumb.) All the ones in Hartford are literally in the city and so they basically only have street parking and tiny parking lots. So we didn't even stop at those because our trailer would never fit. So we used our handy dandy Droids and looked for hotels just outside of Hartford. We stopped at one only to find that the area had recently been considered a disaster area because of the snow we had at the end of October. Up here they had around two feet and with the weight of the snow on the leave-laden trees, caused some serious damage.  The whole area seemed to be without power so everyone was staying at the hotel. So we drove to another one. And it was full too. So was the next one. And the next one. And then a cop told us to get outta dodge (because apparently looking at a map in a parking lot is frowned upon). And told us where we could find another hotel. Which we did. And it was closed too. We were starting to feel like Mary and Joseph, except no baby. Or donkey.

So we kept driving. To the edge of CT. The edge. Literally. The hotel that Josh found that had a room for us was called the Water's Edge. For good reason.

So we said good night at 3:30 this morning. And then woke up and you couldn't even see the water because it was too foggy!  So we drove to Rhode Island, which welcomed us with a sign. We won't miss Connecticut (or Connecti-suck as Josh called it haha). We're pretty excited about this area though. Everyone is so polite and the hotel we're staying at now has socials in the evenings. With free food, wine and beer.

Yeah, this is better. Much better.

It says Welcome to Rhode Island--See, they actually want us to visit
